SUNDAY UPDATE, Refresh for latest…: Coming in higher than Saturday’s
projection for the full sophomore weekend, Illumination/Nintendo/Universal’s
The Super Mario Bros Movie has barreled its way to an estimated $678M global
running cume through today. Of that, $330M is from the international box
office to date.
The second overseas frame is estimated at $94.1M from 71 markets. This reps
an amazing just 28% drop from last weekend’s record-setting opening.
Mario is just showing no signs of quitting and is expected to get to the
coveted $1B mark. It’s playing to a wide swath of audiences and is the No. 1
release of 2023 in 26 international markets including Australia, Germany,
Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, UK & Ireland and Spain (a local example: my
godson here has been to see it at least twice).
Saturday’s update (see below) includes records in individual markets. With
current estimates through Sunday, here’s how the The Top 5 run down for
grosses: Mexico ($52M), UK & Ireland ($43.8M) Germany ($29.7M), France
($21.2M) and Australia ($19.8M ).
In IMAX, the Bros have leveled up to $32.8M global (4th biggest result ever
in the format) and $8.3M overseas.
Elsewhere, it’s lovely to see there are options at cinemas.
Lionsgate’s John Wick: Chapter 4 continues to draw with an estimated $18.6M
from 76 offshore markets in its fourth frame. That brings this strong run to
$189.6M overseas and to $349.7M global.
Paramount/eOne’s Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves was off 43% from
last session internationally. It picked up another $13.8M from 64 markets and
has now grossed $83M offshore.

比週六的第二周末票房預測還要高，
目前瑪利歐兄弟的全球總票房來到了6.78億美金，
其中3.3億來自海外市場。
海外的首週週末票房已經創了動畫片的紀錄了，
第二週週末跌幅又只有28%，非常亮眼的成績。
目前市場預估本片總票房極可能超過10億美金，
因為這部片的受眾廣，在海外高達26個市場已經是2023年至今票房最高的電影了。

我發覺這年頭，樂趣可以隨時從四面八方，從你不知道的角度颯爽飄來，
例如10年前，我永遠不可能預想到，
看一部電影的樂趣，
竟然可以從打臉一個，毫無頭緒，爛到不知道自己在講什麼的鱉腳影評而來，
這也是一種時代的進步吧，
