Across the bridge, the Brooklyn Nets have chosen to pivot towards a rebuild,
and other Nets veterans, including Cam Johnson, Dorian Finney-Smith, Bojan
Bogdanovic, Dennis Schroder, Ben Simmons, and backup center Day’Ron Sharpe,
are all potential trade candidates to monitor, league sources told HoopsHype.
Johnson and Bridges were attached at the hip from their days as Phoenix Suns
teammates through Brooklyn. With Johnson’s contract descending and teams
always searching for more shooting, the 39 percent career 3-point shooter
could become an attractive addition for playoff-caliber teams.
Looking ahead to the NBA Draft, Brooklyn believes it could get into the 20s
if a player the Nets like fell into that range, league sources told
HoopsHype. One player who could be dangled to a playoff-caliber team for such
a pick could be Finney-Smith, who has a $15.38 million player option for the
2025-26 season.
The expiring contracts of Simmons ($40.34 million), Bogdanovic ($19 million),
and Schroder ($13 million) could potentially fetch even more picks down the
line by being dangled for unwanted contracts from other teams.
Sharpe has drawn interest around the league, including from the Memphis
Grizzlies, as HoopsHype reported. According to several NBA executives who
spoke with HoopsHype, Sharpe could garner multiple second-round draft picks.
