JUST IN: The Sacramento Kings are expected to open up talks to potentially
deal All-Star De'Aaron Fox ahead of Feb. 6 trade deadline, sources tell ESPN.
There will be plenty of suitors, but it's believed that Fox has a target
destination in mind ahead of 2026 free agency.

The Nets, per sources, are among the teams that view De’Aaron Fox as a trade
target and have been monitoring the Fox situation in SAC. ESPN reports Kings
are expected to listen to offers ahead of trade deadline but Fox has
preferred destination. He is under contract through 2025-26. Nets, obviously,
have significant trade assets to use to acquire a player of Fox’s caliber.
There will be plenty of teams calling the Kings on Fox ahead of the Feb 6
trade deadline.

Nets definitely view De’Aaron Fox as a trade target. But it only makes sense
for them if he is available in the offseason. SAC is under no time pressure
to get a deal done before the deadline and can revisit this in the offseason,
if it chooses. Another complicating factor in the pursuit of Fox: ESPN
reports that Fox has a specific destination in mind. That destination is
unclear. FWIW: Several opposing teams monitoring the Fox/SAC situation
believed San Antonio was among the teams he’d like to play for.
